While experiencing noise between floors, walls and windows without insulation, wind through gaps, condensation, water leakage and fungus, the Korean people have thought that the unpleasant and unhygienic environment inside houses was hard to improve.
Realizing that such unpleasant environment was a sign of energy-consuming architectures, we started to think of new housing designs and methods that can reduce energy use amount and secure pleasant environment.
To make matters worse, houses are required to respond to climate change by enduring disasters and catastrophes which we never experienced before due to global warming. Realizing those houses is required in this era and it is now responsible for the survival of the people.
Section ③, Article 35 of the Constitution of The Republic of Korea regulates that the nation shall make efforts to help the people of the nation live a pleasant residential life through housing development policies.
Correspondingly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Seoul Metropolitan Government, Nowon-gu Office jointly invest in, and the Zero Energy Housing Research participates in and the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement studies and manages ‘the development of an optimal model and construction of a validation complex’, which is a national R&D research and development task to realize housing that complies with the constitution of the Republic of Korea.
The Zero Energy Hosing Research will make its best efforts to contribute to the people and the nation through the products of the project. (by Prof. .Myoungju Lee)
